What is Fashion’s Night Out?

Fashion’s Night Out is an unprecedented global initiative created in 2009 in a partnership between American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York to celebrate fashionrestore consumer confidenceboost the industry’s economy, and put the fun back in shopping. Since then, the event has grown exponentially, expanding nationally in 2010 to over 100 cities and globally into 15 countries.

On Sept 8th, 2011, The City of Tulsa hosted the city’s 1st Fashion’s Night Out. Tulsa celebrated Fashion with 250 other Cities across the Country! Liz Lange, founder and president of Liz Lange Maternity, is a fashion and retail pioneer. Armed with the philosophy that women should look and feel beautiful during pregnancy, she has single-handedly revolutionized maternity style and society’s perception of pregnant women. Here is what our feature Designer Liz Lange has to say:

1) Do you have plans for FNO and in what City?

To me every night is a “fashion” night so I don’t make too big of a deal over FNO but I do like to support my friends so I will definitely stop by my bff’s stores:
Jonathan Adler, Milly, Trina Turk, Nanette Lepore and perhaps like last year I’ll do some live tweeting for all my shopafrolic.com readers from Barneys and Bergdorfs.

2) What inspires you?

I am inspired by all the chic women of NYC, all of my fab celeb clients and travel. I love to travel as it gets me thinking about different colors, sights, sounds and smells.

3) Do you have a Fall Fashion Favorite?

I am loving this fall’s fashion from the dressed up lady like looks of the 50s and 80s to the trousers, heels and feminine blouses of the ’70s. I flipped over Trina Turk’s “come fly with me” collection which harkened back to the 60s when flight attendants were stewardesses and travel was uber glamorous.

4) If you have a snack on your desk what is it?

I don’t believe in eating at my desk and I have always encouraged my employees to eat outside of the office as well. If I have anything it might be something sweet like a brownie or a cupcake from Sprinkles….
