A Memo from behind the scenes-

There is an incredible movement going on. The ball began rolling farther back than I could ever remember, the roll (or role) of Fashion. It has made the mundane chore of clothing ourselves luxurious, individual and something we have grown to celebrate. This celebration began three years ago in New York City when the economy was taking a downturn. For one night this role of Fashion would be celebrated in the best of ways, with everyone. It turned into an incredible Community event where Retailers, Designers, Stylists and Consumers all came out, putting money back into their City, while a portion of the sales went back to a local Organization. Brilliant! Now in it’s third year this celebration has spread to over 100 Cities in this Country and 15 Worldwide. This movement has made it to Tulsa.

There are hundreds of people behind Fashion’s Night Out Tulsa. They have worked tirelessly putting together in store events showcasing everything Fall to make updating your wardrobe for the cold far from mundane. We hope you will join the extravaganza on Thursday, September 8th. There are special guest Designers in town, models being fitted, runways going up and more. Celebrate Fashion, shop local and feel great knowing a portion of proceeds benefit Organizations such as The United Way of Tulsa, The Tulsa Opera and The OSU Medical Emergency Center. Have a Fun and Fashionable evening!

Designers Corner

We decided to bring the Designers to you, Tulsa!

Liz Lange, founder and president of Liz Lange Maternity, is a fashion and retail pioneer. Armed with the philosophy that women should look and feel beautiful during pregnancy, she has single-handedly revolutionized maternity style and society’s perception of pregnant women. Here is what our feature Designer Liz Lange has to say:

1) Do you have plans for FNO and in what City?

To me every night is a “fashion” night so I don’t make too big of a deal over FNO but I do like to support my friends so I will definitely stop by my bff’s stores:
Jonathan Adler, Milly, Trina Turk, Nanette Lepore and perhaps like last year I’ll do some live tweeting for all my shopafrolic.com readers from Barneys and Bergdorfs.

2) What inspires you?

I am inspired by all the chic women of NYC, all of my fab celeb clients and travel. I love to travel as it gets me thinking about different colors, sights, sounds and smells.

3) Do you have a Fall Fashion Favorite?

I am loving this fall’s fashion from the dressed up lady like looks of the 50s and 80s to the trousers, heels and feminine blouses of the ’70s. I flipped over Trina Turk’s “come fly with me” collection which harkened back to the 60s when flight attendants were stewardesses and travel was uber glamorous.

4) If you have a snack on your desk what is it?

I don’t believe in eating at my desk and I have always encouraged my employees to eat outside of the office as well. If I have anything it might be something sweet like a brownie or a cupcake from Sprinkles….
